Ep 11: The Must-attend Conference For Mac
Our thanks to Larry for pointing us to. In my view, it’s a “must attend” conference for MRAs, and a steal at £15.00 (£10.00 for members). People who have followed our anti-MGM campaign will be aware of the impressive output of the Oxford University ethicist Brian D Earp. He’ll be speaking at the conference, his bio on the NSS website: Brian Earp, The Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics Brian is Associate Director of the Yale-Hastings Program in Ethics and Health Policy at Yale University and The Hastings Center, and a Research Fellow in the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford.
Brian’s work is cross-disciplinary, following training in philosophy, cognitive science, psychology, history and sociology of science and medicine, and ethics. He has been widely published and has been cited in a landmark British high court case by Sir James Munby. An article by Brian on the NSS website, “Genital cutting: the search for ‘health benefits’ is disingenuous and inconsistent”, is. I hope to meet many of you at the conference. If everyone who read this gave us just £1.00 – or even better, £1.00 or more, monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference.
There are some television shows that transcend time and genre—and leave an indelible mark on culture long after they’ve left the airwaves. M.A.S.H is one of those shows. Created by Larry Gelbart, a comedic writer and playwright, the legendary, Emmy-winning series was adapted from the 1970 Robert Altman film of the same name. The comedy-drama, which focused on the lives of the doctors and staff stationed at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, ran from 1972 to 1983 and aired more than 250 episodes in its 11 seasons.
