Dell Optiplex 790 Nic Driver For Mac 8,9/10 2385 reviews

This is in response to a PM, but I thought I'd make it public for anyone else with one of these Optiplexes. I got my system up and running three or four months ago on 10.7.2 (with recent update through apple menu to 10.7.3). I had NO dsdt; I just installed easybeast along with hrac's intel Ethernet kext. This got everything working well, including Internet, although I lack the WoL option in the energy preferences, which is disappointing.

I have it enabled in bios, but I imagine I need an updated Kext that will allow it on the Intel 82579LM Gigabit LAN. Audio and video were no good OOB. Realtek ALC269q and AMD Radeon HD 6350, respectively. I tried all the voodoo options for audio, but kept having KPs.

Perhaps I was doing it wrong? Maybe there was a conflicting Kext that should have been deleted first before installing voodoo? At any rate, I ended up buying an $8 USB audio stick (mic and speaker jacks) which was plug and play. To start mackintosh at Dell Optiplex 790 or 7010 you need to use flag dart=0 in boot option. For the AMD card, I didn't try my hardest to find a kext that would make it work right, since I had another card anyway. I got my Asus GeForce 210 1GB working OOB, making sure that graphics enabler was set to 'yes', so no problems there.

I did some other tweaking to get the OS to boot on a RAID volume, but I'll spare you those details since after the second RAID failure (thanks CCC for saving my bacon!) I just put the OS on a non-RAID disk. As a side note, my data disk is still on a RAID volume and I haven't had a problem.

My remaining problems, at this point, other than the lack of WoL which i already mentioned, included getting the system to sleep and wake up properly. I installed this Kext for system sleep:. Honestly I can't remember just how much that kext helped. I just know it wasn't 100% because I ended up installing 3rd party software to help the lion sleep. This issue may have been an OS issue, not a Hackintosh issue. That super-helpful software was PleaseSleep, and it's free. Then, I did something else to the system that I neglected to write down on my Evernote Hackintosh page.

It had something to do with making the system stay awake once it's awakened?? That is, before I installed or made this tweak or whatever it was, when I woke it from sleep with a single keyboard press, it would waken for three seconds and then fall back asleep, unless I continued pressing keys. This tweak cured that problem by sending inputs in the background to keep it awake after I hit a single key or mouse click to wake it up.

If anybody knows what this tweak was or where it can be found, please shout it out. I think that's about it. I hope this is helpful to someone else with a 990 or 790.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions. LONG LIVE THE HACKINTOSH! Click to expand. I have been looking to get my desktop running OSX, didn't realize a optiplex 790 was OOTB this easy! Went to best buy and picked up a PNY GeForce GT610 card (half height). Plugged it in, booted using unibeast and viola!!! Dual monitors working.

Haven't rebooted for sound kexts yet, but did run kextbeast (requires reboot to complete). I immediately looked up how to upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite. After verifying sound, I will perform this upgrade!!

Loving it so far!! Hoping to find my bluetooth usb dongle at home and connect the magic mouse and wireless keyboard. UPDATE1: running kextbeast and rebooting did not activate audio on mavericks, I needed to download multibeast and run that. I selected the easybeast profile and the realtek audio ac269 drivers, then 'build'. Once that was complete, I rebooted. Hoping for sound (fingers crossed).

Before the rebooted, I am completing my unibeast version for yosemite so I can perform the upgrade once audio is good to go. UPDATE2: Audio finally working. Used this link for reference: Essentially, had to re-run mulitbeast, select EasyBeast, Drivers- Intel (latest version of Ethernet/E1000), Audio (did this.from quote from link). Not sure if this solution will work for any Realtek ALC269 audio, but I did just Hackintosh a Dell Optiplex 790 and had trouble with audio as well. The fix on Lion (super easy): Delete or move: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext Use latest Multibeast to install VoodooHDA.kext (2.7.3) After reboot, you will have a hissing sound (the static, or buzzing people have talked about).

This is because the microphone ports default to passthru or input monitoring. Open /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup, and use that to Mute the microphone inputs. I only needed to mute the front panel microphone jack and the static went away. Click to expand.rebooted, and I had audio. As a side note, I might also purchase the USB audio/mic stick for another build since this is easy!NOW, FINALLY.

Zeo headband for firmware update. Onto the Yosemite upgrade. UPDATE3: Yosemite upgrade completed. Used this article Still on first boot, audio and internet still works.

But the documentation says to run Multibeast 7, so will do that and hope that everything remains intact. NOTE: I did everything in multibeast as I did in UPDATE2 with the exception that I selected the newest VoodooHDA.kext (2.84) driver and got an error that the audio driver was improperly installed. So the saying goes.IF It aint broke, don't fix it!!! So after the reboot, I went back into multibeast and reinstalled the VoodooHDA.kext (2.7.3) driver. Now I am seeing there are a couple security updates I need to apply. Last time i did this in Mavericks, it disabled a few things, so I had to re-run multibeast again, so I imagine that will be the same case on Yosemite.

UPDATE4: Yosemite upgrade completed with all latest updates from Apple. Reboot wasn't required and did not have to re-run Mulitbeast. Everything is working like a champ, just have to order the new logitech solar wireless keyboard and the multitouch logitech mouse to complete the setup. (The keyboard isn't bluetooth so it will allow interaction in chameleon).

Hope this post helps anyone having installation/upgrade troubles. This time reloading to install El Capitan. 1st attempt was installing without unibeast. This was successful, however I went the route of installing Yosemite, then doing an upgrade to El Capitan. When I installed the Post El Capitan pkg from the downloads section for Essential pkgs, this broke the OS and it booted into a panic everytime. I was trying to get audio to work when doing this.

Otherwise, if I would have never messed with the Essential pkgs, I would have been set. 2nd attempt, I came across unibeast 6.x to install El Capitan, which also uses Clover.

I like the simplicity of this method, so I have wiped the drawing board clean and starting over. Just hoping this will allow for iMessage and facetime to work. As my Yosemite build using unibeast (chimera) disabled this. The logitech solar keyboard has been GREAT! The logitech touch mouse was too small, so returned it for a apple magic mouse. I also picked up a USB audio adapter, which is plug and play for audio instead of messing around with voodoo drivers.

Yes, all devices work well. Only Dell780 with AD1984A not since beta's.

I can not find a mistake. Rollback of the AppleHDA of 10.13.3 and Lilu + AppleALC works well. Original AppleHDA's of the beta's and Lilu + AppleALC only works with HDMI audio. Something has changed in the AppleHDA's for analog devices. 790 has ALC269 - no problem my ALC888 also no problems only AD1984A has problems with new AppleHDA Edit: All set like's are no longer there with the new forum software. I started with an Optiplex 760 a few years back, I think it was with Mountain Lion. Then I got an Optiplex 780, which is not a whole lot different, I think maybe just the chipset. Now I have an Optiplex 790, and 990, and I would highly recommend to anyone just starting out to get a 790 or 990.

With 790 SFF i5 cores going on eBay for about $110 US, I wouldn't be considering the older models myself. That's just my opinion. One thing to keep your older 755, 760 and 780's going, and maybe another if your just starting out. Just a matter of personal choice, but I sold both my 780's and upgraded. It's nice to have a little more CPU Power, and to not have to worry about rolling back kexts. Edited March 19 by morpheousman.

I totally agree with you, last week I buy another Dell Optiplex 790 with a CPU i3 2100 3.10Ghz, I buy it with only the CPU and nothing else I had for $ 60 Can.

I use it for my Beta test and to do that I put my GeForce GT 1030 + 8 gig Ram Corsaire I am very happy now to have two Dell Optiplex. 790 For me this PC is the best compatible MacOS computer because you can run 10.6 to 10. 13 with a compatible Graphics card, What other computer can claim to be able to do this and have the same power as old iMac or Mac Pro.

My 790 has an i7 Core CPU, and I think I paid about $190 for that almost 2 years ago now. The HD5450 Graphics card was $20 after a $10 rebate. Throw in a Solid State Hard Drive, a nice 27' Monitor, and, according to a couple of my buddies, its every bit as functional as their iMacs. I have about $450 in my 790 i7 Core, but wiithout the SSD, and getting the i5 core, which is still a fast CPU, you could put one together for about $300 - $350, and thats including a decent monitor. You can't beat that.

Edited March 19 by morpheousman. First of all thanks for the nice howto and all the hints. I had some troubles installing High Sierra on my 780.

With High Sierra I received the 'OSInstall.mpkg damaged' error, with Sierra I had the 'no signal/black screen' problem. Finally I removed my graphics card and install Sierra by using onboard graphics, which was good enough. After installing I updated directly to High Sierra without problems, inserted again my GT710 and it just worked. It could be a useful hint for beginners that struggle an NVIDIA card like I did;-) I also got working an Realtek 8191SU USB WLAN Dongle, a Creative USB sound card and a Bluetooth dongle. The only thing that does not work is sleep and wake.

If I send it to sleep the monitor goes black but the box keeps running. After a time I can hear that the HDD stops as well, but the box still runs. And of course I cannot wake it anymore. Do you have any idea how I could fix this? Boot time is quite long but it would not bother me if sleep/wake worked. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have High Sierra 10.13.6 installed on a Gigabyte h360m d3h, an i3 8100 processor and a GeForce GTX 760. I'm having some issues with sleep, shutdown and reboot not working correctly, this is what happens: Sleep: the machine restarts Shutdown: the OS appears to not be running but the machine is left on Restart: the same as shutdown Everything else (audio, video, usb) appears to be working correctly. Do you know how can I fix this?

I'm attaching my config.plist and clover bootlog config.plist bootlog.txt. Clover r4799 ISO compiled with GCC and minimal config.plist compatible for use in VMWare Workstation.

Tested with unlocked Workstation 15 running OSX 10.9 -10.14 guest in Windows X64 host. Installation 1. Download and unzip 'EFICloverr4799 for VMware.zip'. Mount Clover-v2.4k-4799-X64 by double clicking on it. Mount your VM's EFI System Partition eg in terminal sudo diskutil mount disk0s1 3. Copy EFI folder from step 1 into the EFI partition 4.

Shutdown the VM, add bios.bootDelay = '3000' to your VM's vmx file 5. Reboot your VM, press to access the VMware Boot Manager and add CLOVERX64.efi to the boot menu. Substitute your own unique and valid MLB and ROM variables in the /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist (Rt Variables section) to activate iMessage/Facetime on your VM. Even though the name H370 rings comparable to Z370, the H370 is based on newer silicon. This it also requires some new approaches compared to the Z370. An example would be on-die USB 3.1 and WiFi support. Dell Precision T7610 Workstation Hackintosh GUIDE (Work in Progress) Introduction: Hi Everyone, This Workstation used to be a Beast with Dual CPUs and tons of RAM, I Know it is now normal to get that much cores in a Desktop but it is still a very decent machine for me (As a Programmer), and I thought it would be a good idea to Install MacOS as the Daily Driver Rather than Linux and It turns out to be a very Great Experience (with Some Challenges ).
